Walking in Somerset

Weston Walking Group
The Group meets for mid-week walks, on Wednesdays, of approximately 7/8 miles and weekend walks, on Saturdays, which may be longer. These include a coffee stop and a picnic lunch stop.

You are welcome to come along and join us on two occasions to see if you enjoy it before you actually join. Membership subscription is £5 per person per annum, payable on joining and thereafter at each AGM held in January.

You can see our programme here.

Although the Club carries 3rd Party Insurance, this does not cover accidents to members and everyone is reminded that their health, safety and welfare are primarily their own responsibility. Please ensure that you are fit enough to undertake the walk you intend to join. If you are unsure of your fitness level, try a short and easy walk first but if in any doubt, please contact, in advance, the Walks Organiser or the leader. For your own and other members' safety, please follow the instructions of the walks leader.

The Group recommends as a minimum the following clothing and equipment:
Walking Boots or other appropriate footwear
Waterproof clothing
Rucksack with plastic bag for liner
Packed lunch and drink
Small personal first-aid kit
Whistle

The meeting place and start time are stated on the programme, including the Ordnance Survey grid reference, general directions and the length and difficulty of the walk. Most members find it preferable to share transport, which they normally arrange amongst themselves. Passengers are asked to make a contribution towards travelling costs in agreement with the driver.

In case there are any problems or queries, the leader of the walk can always be contacted by phone number/s given on the programme.

The Group also arranges a number of social evenings, such as a skittles evening, annual dinner, and coach trips to walk further afield.
